April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) started her musical journey in the 7th grade when she took guitar and piano classes. At the age of 12 April came up with her first original song Different. When she was 14, April spent much time writing lyrics and perfecting her musicianship skills. Then, she began taking trips across NY and LA along with her dad to help them to write songs. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in the book, Take My Hand, for the people in her life who are struggling with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart, a popular lifestyle blogger and working in partnerships with brands that are clean and healthy like Ilia, has built a large audience. Since she was born without a left hand, the woman is an important part of herself. However, it's not her entire story. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny her disability. It also doesn't make it a point to emphasize it. The message? That we all contain multitudes of identities and that we are greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart tells Lockhart in a video interview "I don't think that will define me. It's not my intention to influence disabilities because I've got many more things to contribute." And it doesn't affect my everyday life. I go about everything normally and I've found the best way for me to adapt the things. But it's also a part of me and I feel it's important to talk about. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends in the area of self-acceptance. She admits that she has gone through phases of insecurity with her physique and being uncomfortable in certain clothes which showed her arms. She wears whatever she wants and is proud to post pictures of herself in the outfits she chooses on social media. One of the keys to self-love for her is that it's not a destination. But I think that's with everyone with whatever they are struggling with. I think it is important to be around those who are able to know the person you are.
