Jennifer Lopez was born in 1969 to a family of Puerto Rican descent. Lopez studied dance throughout her childhood. She made her acting debut when she was 16 by playing the role she played on the show My Little Girl, 1986. In 1991, Lopez made her television debut by appearing as a dancer in In Living Color. Lopez assumed the starring role in the police procedural Shades of Blue (2016-18), portraying a conflicted police officer. She played a comic character on Second Act, a comedy about a woman who is given a job offer in an Manhattan lawyer firm her friends after they embellished her resume. Lopez took part in a predominantly women-only cast for Hustlers (2017), about sexually promiscuous women who plot against wealthy clients. In 2022, Lopez starred in two comedies that dealt with weddings. In Marry Me, a pop star, who discovers that her fianc is cheating, weds a mathematician at one of her shows when she discovers.
